Escape to the French countryside  …

If you feel you want some time away, but not the other side of the world or a long haul flight away, this could be what you are looking for!  La Petite Pommeraie is a traditional French farmhouse gite & private pool in South West France and is just the place to spend time for families and friends.  Also the most special place for couples wanting space and time to relax and enjoy all that the Charente & Dordogne area has to offer.   Whether spring, summer or autumn, embrace the slower pace of life, meander through sleepy villages, vineyards, cafes and winding rivers.

This farmhouse and its surrounding garden and orchard is a unique location and has a feeling of ‘getting away from it all’.  Whether you want to spend much needed quality time with the family or are a couple wanting a romantic place to relax, this is for you.  Overlooking the Tude valley, where the river runs down to the market town of Chalais, the views across the rural countryside are stunning.

The house easily sleeps up to 10 guests,  as it has five bedrooms, including one en-suite room with a kingsize bed and two other double rooms all with views across the Tude Valley.  La Petite Pommeraie has many traditional features, with that rustic feel that we all love about French farmhouses.  It is furnished in a simple style totally in-keeping with this french farmhouse.  We provide fresh cotton bedding and fresh white towels to make guests feel at home and a well equipped kitchen in order to prepare and eat fresh local food.  The kitchen is at the heart of the house and was renovated in March 2018.  With a SMEG range oven and induction hob, it makes for a treat to cook in and easy to prepare food for everyone.

And then there are the wonderful views of the Charentaise countryside of South West France – from the terrace, from the house and from the pool.  In the morning, with a fresh coffee in your hand, watch the sun come up over the old lime tree, take in the fields of sunflowers, corn and maize.  Then in the evening, pour yourself a glass of chilled wine and watch sunsets to amaze you as you relax in the pool barn.

The pool is open from late May to late September and is heated with solar (PV) panels.  With the oak and stone pool barn, including its barbecue area, there is ample space around the pool for everyone to relax, with a range of loungers, the shade of the auvent and also parasols.
