"Beautiful home in stunning location"
Wow, what a place to stay. A beautiful, spacious, well equipped property in a stunning location. A real home from home. Have enjoyed the privacy but also the options to visit local attractions and find fantastic places to eat. Everything is within easy reach - used the bikes many times to go to Chalais for supplies. The pool area has been a treat - we have lived up there. The sheltered area is perfect with barbeque, big table, sink and toilet. Loads of sun beds available and inflatables for the pool. Recommend the food at Hotel Perigord (in Aubeterre) and in the square for lunch. Also, the tree top adventure at Saint-Aulaye. Have already recommended to friends at work. Thank you for sharing your wonderful home.

"A little piece of heaven in France"
Idyllic position to really relax and unwind. Amazing views across the valley for spotting wildlife and long views up and down the valley. You feel like you are in the middle of nowhere but there is a town and supermarket a 5 min drive away. Property renovated and decorated to a very high standard. Layout is well thought out with enough toilets/bathrooms in relation to bedrooms. Big kitchen with everything you need and amazing outside living area by pool with built in bbq, drinks fridge, large dining table, lighting, sink and toilet. Nice warm pool in beautiful gardens with plenty of sun loungers so you can relax and soak up the view. Well thought out, high spec, accommodation. Can’t wait to go back!

"Perfect family getaway"
What a beautiful house, perfect for families with small children. Our first holiday as a family and we couldn't have asked for anything more. The host was most helpful and provided us with everything we needed and was happy to answer any questions we had. The local town had everything we needed and we enjoyed walks and bike rides in the surrounding countryside. We will definitely be returning!

Beautiful home in the Charente
The photos of this house do not do it justice. There is a huge kitchen diner which is very well equipped. The swimming pool area is lovely with an undercover area to sit in should it be hot or even rain. We had some lovely walks in the evening and had a great meal at the Bistro in Montboyer. The local boulangerie is a must. All in all would highly recommend

"A place to escape in rural France"
We had a just the most lovely stay at La Petite Pommeraie. So much space to relax and amazing country views especially from the pool area. Perfect place to refresh and easy to pop into the town of Chalais.

"The most relaxing holiday ever"
We had the most relaxing holiday ever. The weather was perfect. The location was perfect and the house was beautiful. It really was home from home. Everything that you could possibly need was there. We did a big shop at the supermarket in Chalais (which was only a 5 minute drive) when we arrived and used the freezer then used the bakery when we needed fresh bread. We had intended to visit a few restaurants for dinner but were so comfortable that we didn't get around to it. The barbecue area was great and the view from there in the evening was spectacular. We normally only go away for a week but we stayed for 2 weeks and really didn't want to leave. We enjoyed picking fruit from the orchard. There were cherry trees, apricot, plum, apple, pear plus others. The solar heated pool was wonderful especially when sunbathing as you could dip in to cool off. Wendy & Simon have thoughtfully given the house a really homely French country feel. The house was spotlessly clean and the furnishings were beautiful. We can't wait to return with our family next year. Thank you so much for a much needed relaxing holiday.

"Fantastic property in beautiful location"
We have just come back from this amazing place, the house was a lot bigger than we were expecting and the gardens and views were breath taking. It was very private and pool area was perfect for us, there is a BBQ area next to the pool with a lovely big table and benches which we all found handy especially my husband who doesn't like sitting in the sun but wanted to be with the family, so he was able to be in the shade there whilst we enjoyed the pool and sunbathed. The property was clean and had all that we needed, (it was like home from home )and the owners were very helpful with any questions or queries we had. We would recommend that you go to a restaurant called Morel's in Aubeterre-Sur-Dronne, the food was excellent.! The local bakery in Montboyer was really good for gluten free bread and cakes. We will definitely be going back again and have already been recommending it to some friends. We all came back feeling relaxed and refreshed.

"A most relaxing holiday - a beautiful house"
We enjoyed a lovely late summer break here! We were lucky enough to have some hot sunny weather and be able to lounge by the pool. Making use of the perfect pool house complete with a great BBQ. The house was so clean and really well finished, equipped with everything you'd need. Including cot for our 10 month old. Wendy was so helpful too during the booking. Highly recommend

"Amazing property with breathtaking views!"
We had such an amazing holiday here, so many thanks to Wendy for letting us stay and for being so helpful in the run up. The property itself was so spacious, it had a lovely tranquil and cool feel about it, and came supplied with everything you could need. We enjoyed many a lazy breakfast or lunch just gazing from the terrace at the amazing view. The pool was really quite warm and we enjoyed the same stunning view whilst relaxing by the pool. Even our 5 year said one of the best things was the view (if we could get her out of the pool long enough to look)! The boulangerie was another highlight of the holiday, so it was a shame that they were closed for their holiday during the second week of stay. Croissants, bread, sweet treats and white wine were all delicious. My partner enjoyed the early morning stroll down the lane to get the supplies, and I think it made him feel like he had then earnt what he had bought! We had great days out at Aubeterre (great lunches at La Taverne). The lakes at Brossac and La Jemaye (south of Riberac) continued the swimming theme for our daughter but just provided a change of scene from the pool. All in all, we had an amazing holiday in an amazing property in a beautiful part of France. Hopefully we shall be lucky enough to return.

What a lovely spot to spend a holiday ! We were only there for a week, which definitely wasn't long enough. The weather got better and better through the week, so we were very grateful for the gorgeous pool - a personal highlight was swimming early in the morning before anyone else was up, just to the sound of birdsong, when the pool was steaming as it was warmer than the morning air ! We would recommend the croissants and pain au chocolat from the Boulangerie in Montboyer - an easy cycle ride on the bike to collect those in the morning. Also a visit to the amazing restaurant at the Hotel du Perigord in Aubeterre - the most delicious steak ! Le Petit Pommerai is full of charm and character, but is also really well equipped. It was immaculately clean and everything is obviously very well looked after. Very comfortable beds, with lovely crisp cool sheets - air conditioning and mosquito nets - a fantastic barbeque up by the pool - even a hammock away from the house on the edge of the orchard, and plenty of cooking equipment. We've stayed in a lot of French houses, and even with fussy teenage children this house worked really well. The huge TV with all the English channels also worked for a sport mad husband during Wimbledon ! The owners have obviously put a lot of thought into this house - we would definitely recommend it, and will be returning there.

"Lovely house with superb pool and views"
We stayed for 2 weeks, its really well equipped and incredibly spacious. The view from the heated pool was amazing, spent many an hour in there. The barn/bbq area is lovely we used it every night. The air conditioning in every room is great especially when it gets very hot. There are lovely towns within a few minutes drive and lots to see/do for days out. I can't think of anything else that you would need, we'll be back at some point...

La Petite Pommeraie is a little gem of a home, nestling in the rolling countryside of the Charente, which through sensitive restoration offers an extremely memorable holiday in a tranquil setting. As I write this, over a week after the holiday I can still feel the heat on my back, the rural smells and sounds of a working countryside, but most importantly the memories of a truly relaxing break at LPP. The property was presented clean and tidy with all the usual modern conveniences available and certainly lived up to its description. The owners were extremely helpful and rapidly responded to any of our questions either before or during our stay. The local amenities are accurately represented both on line and at the property. Whilst only 4 of us used the house it was clear that the property was sufficiently large and well provisioned for up to 8 visitors, careful consideration has been given to ensure that the full range of guests can be accommodated with activities for the young to the old being catered for. Internet is available as is Sky TV, however I might suggest that your holiday should not be defined by the need for those modern conveniences! Close to a selection of market towns, rivers, country walks and local attractions you would have to work hard to get bored. The local restaurant, Le Bistrot des Halles, at Montboyer is superb, both in friendliness, value and quality. It is hard to highlight negatives because they simply were not a problem for us. There is a railway at the bottom of the valley around a kilometre away and we did not find it intrusive. Would we book again? Most certainly and fully intend to.

"Location, location, location!"
Firstly the house was lovely, had everything you could need. Pool lovely, view lovely, weather....not so good but got better as the week went on. When the sun was out, we spent most of the time outside by the pool, at the table or just looking at the view.
