Our traditional farmhouse is set in a tiny hamlet situated in lovely rolling countryside of the Charente region of SW France and on the border of the Dordogne region.
Great for families, friends or visitors of all ages, this charming old farmhouse is only 12km from Aubeterre-sur-Dronne, officially listed as one of ‘The Most Beautiful Villages in France’ since 1993, it has a river beach and cafe, ideal for families, in addition to canoeing & tennis.
It also has the extraordinary, monolithic, underground Church of St Jean and the Romanesque Church of St Jacques, with its stunning façade.
Fresh bread is available from the local bakery only 2km away in Montboyer, as well as in Chalais just 5 kms, which is also great for all groceries, a supermarket and a weekly market. You are also within easy reach of Montmoreau St Cybard, where there is another supermarket.
St Emillion is an hour’s drive west of Montboyer near Bordeaux – and one of the top vineyards to visit in the area – perfect for a day trip.
Brossac is close by with a swimming lake, activities and a restaurant cafe.
St Aulaye is only 25 minutes drive and has river beach, excellent cafe, arbor-aventure (tree climbing) and water slides.
Another beautiful town great for a day trip is Brantome, with its chateau, waterways, bridges and many restaurants.
