“Absolutely Fabulous”
La Petite Pommeraie is a little gem of a home, nestling in the rolling countryside of the Charente, which through sensitive restoration offers an extremely memorable holiday in a tranquil setting. As I write this, over a week after the holiday I can still feel the heat on my back, the rural smells and sounds of a working countryside, but most importantly the memories of a truly relaxing break at LPP. The property was presented clean and tidy with all the usual modern conveniences available and certainly lived up to its description. The owners were extremely helpful and rapidly responded to any of our questions either before or during our stay. The local amenities are accurately represented both on line and at the property. Whilst only 4 of us used the house it was clear that the property was sufficiently large and well provisioned for up to 8 visitors, careful consideration has been given to ensure that the full range of guests can be accommodated with activities for the young to the old being catered for. Internet is available as is Sky TV, however I might suggest that your holiday should not be defined by the need for those modern conveniences! Close to a selection of market towns, rivers, country walks and local attractions you would have to work hard to get bored. The local restaurant, Le Bistrot des Halles, at Montboyer is superb, both in friendliness, value and quality. It is hard to highlight negatives because they simply were not a problem for us. There is a railway at the bottom of the valley around a kilometre away and we did not find it intrusive. Would we book again? Most certainly and fully intend to.
